Many people could be damaging their health by sleeping medications autorecetarse, warn scientists in the UK. Researchers at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society conducted a survey with 2077 people to get their sleep habits and sleep medication use in this population. They found that more than half think you have insomnia, undiagnosed, and taking medication without consulting your doctor. These people, the researchers say, do not know they may be putting their health at risk by ignoring the underlying problems of your insomnia. Sleeping difficulties, added, often result in physical or mental problems that need to be addressed.
Among the causes of the disorder may be asthma, heart disease, schizophrenia, anxiety or depression. It has also been seen as a result of Alzheimer’s disease and hormonal problems. Besides trouble sleeping, insomnia is also not able to get enough sleep or stay awake at night. According to the researchers, it is thought that one in three people in the UK suffer from insomnia. And a survey in the U.S. found that 58% of adults have the disorder several nights a week. The Royal Society survey found that 30% of people reported that they had taken sleeping pills for over a month without consulting your doctor. And 14% said they are taken for six months.

Paul Johnson, a spokesman for the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, said that “it is worrying that so many people are using in excess sleep aids.”
“These can be effective as a short-term treatment for mild insomnia, but should not be taken for long periods without consulting a doctor because they can hide serious health problems that will worsen if not treated.”
“It is never a good idea to take a long-term prescription medicine that we ourselves, because we may end up treating a symptom instead of fighting the root cause of our problem,” he adds.
The poll also found that 70% of respondents did not know suffering insomnia that this disorder may be linked to other health problems.
As Paul Johnson states, “Insomnia is very common and causes suffering, frustration and fatigue.”
“Pharmacists can talk to people about the disorder, drug advise and recommend the best solution.” Although sleep problems can affect any adult at some point in their lives, the disorder becomes a problem when the lack of sleep has an impact on the daily life of the person.
For example, insomnia results in excessive daytime fatigue, recurrent infections, poor concentration, irritability, work and relationship problems and a general inability to cope with everyday tasks. It is estimated that up to one in 10 adults suffer from chronic insomnia. According to the spokesman of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, there are several simple techniques that people can use to achieve better sleep. For example, go to bed and get up at the same time every day, avoiding caffeine and alcohol in the evening and not overeat at night.
